Subcarpati | experimental hip hop | folk influences & Bogdan Dragomir | disco reggae (RO) >> 3 Nov 2010

Bogdan Dragomir is an experienced selector from Bucharest, Romania. He is responsible, under the ‘Deeproots’ alias, for starting the first 100% Jamaican music nights in Bucharest, several years ago. Ever since, he became a regular in the night life of the capital city and virtually every major Romanian town. He opened for names like DJ Andy Smith, Aba Shanti I, Glyn ‘Bigga’ Bush, Diesler, dr. Alex Paterson, G-Force Soundsystem, etc.

Whatever he may spinning (‘cause it could go from a ‘straight jamaican reggae’ selection to some ‘afro-north-american/jamaican/latin–caraibean/brazilian/african’ madness, from the early 60s to some ‘2 weeks old’ releases, from a summer afternoonish marinatin’ vibes to some ‘friday night bangin’ thang’), you may observe and taste the quality and the finesse of the selection.

Subcarpati is an explosive mixture between old  Romanian traditional music and the new beats of today. It`s  an  eclectic combination that brings together melancholy Romanian folk songs, Romanian unity songs, traditional instruments and the rhytms of trip-hop, dubstep, hip-hop or dancehall.

Subcarpati is made by  Mc Bean, Alexe Marius Andrei (writer, composer and one of the best Romanian mc`s, front-line man for a lot of  electronic bands, soundsystems  during the times)  and Dj Limun, Denes Marius Eugen ( one of the most gifted dj from the new school generation of Romanian hip-hop)

Subcarpati resonates of  strength, soul and has a  powerfull message:

Respect the foundation !

Come on the 3rd of November to listen to one of the most outstanding Romanian music projects of the contemporary generation.

Starting 8pm . Oliebar @ Artspace Rondeel Maastricht, together with [EVA]project
