happy new year 2012, how’s your culture today?

Since Artspace Rondeel Maastricht been transf-ARM-ing the cultural landscape around it, drastically changed. Value & subsidies for Nature and Culture are vanishing and one can be sure that many Nature lovers and Cultural makers are moving out of this country in which they feel not represented anymore by any means. We are monitoring the Braindrain as close as possible to see where culture ends. What will be in the news (besides political/economical news?). How will people behave without culture and nature and where do they feel at home (enclosed in their own fenced homes or in community shelter?)
Definitely we will publish some new ideas and data to withstand a braindrain or we’ll jump on the train ourselves and find a way to open possibilities abroad ourselves. For any hint, idea or vision on where to continue cultural (artspace-like) and natural (gardening) activities we’re very open.

Dear Readers,

A quick update is needed, cause since the 6th of june the Artspace Rondeel is closed and in this same week the biggest cultural disgrace took place in dutch Politics. It seems that the supposed “end of money” is the final end of Respect as been seen in The Hague where police was beating up peacefull demonstrating artists (almost in greek style). End of Respekt is end of Culture and one is about to become faithless in a country once reknown for its openess and tolerance/respect for nature, design and architecture, dance and so on. This can only mean a BRAINDRAIN big style sooner or later and it seems that natural KRIMP (= the shrinking of smaller towns like Maastricht) is not enough. So Cultural Aims can better be redefined into Maastricht Culturless Capital 2018 for instance to be able to reach any goal afterall. However what continues is 3 letters. ARM. Our ARM has been succesfull last thursday as the first ARM as in Art Research Music took place during the opening of the www.spektrale2011.de. Amazing sounds and colours becoming music. And now the next exhibition/performancepark is heading forward to become a great concentrate. So that is why we invite you for the following:

ARM as in Art Research Music @ Spektrale 2011

This is the first ARM concert as in Art Research Music. The concert/composition was based on the influence of noise and its singularity in form of a drop. Colours became sound in the openingsconcert of the SPEKTRALE. Have a look/listen at the Rheingoldhalle Mainz. A very special exhibition full of scientific experiments and ART on the edge of science. Dear readers,

the last party of ARM will be held 21 of may; it will be the top down bottom up party (or Den Haag for Cultural Capital benefit party or Fukushima must stop party or or or )…( at least the date is fixed) 21th of MAY the rest is open to you! I got already the first suggestions how to
basicly end something that is infinitive… or at least something we will take along anyway (inpiration good ideas connection etc)

Since everybody is against top-down decision these days,
and wants grassroots buttom up ideas, i think i would love to combine it and find winwin for both.
I put my head down in the earth like a Ostrich (struisvogel) when i think about the Cultural Capital 2018.
But I shake my ass all the way to the top because it is gonna be the party where i will think about the rest of my life and beyond.

Subtract space, make propaganda for your new cultural events. bring your acts but don;t forget
AFTER THE PARTY THE RONDEEL MUST BE EMPTY
Let’s make it a cleaners (after)party or something….

Loïc B.C. & The frantic Lovers >> He died while Hunting>> 26/03 at ARM-20:30

Dear Fans.

ARM celebrates spring with an exquisite selection of pop music. From the capital of Wallonia we welcome Loïc B.O. and the Frantic Lovers. Loïc B.O. already won his spurs in the Belgian indie scene as the frontman of Flexa Lyndo. His first solo album, “Million Dreams”, became a collection of dreamy, sometimes even melancholical, songs over compositions with violin, cello, piano and drums.

Also from Belgium is ‘He died while hunting’, who kindly provided to fill up the gap caused by the last minute cancellation of Charles Hayward and Barberos. As it is very last minute I havent been able to come up with a shitty piece of half witted commentary about the bands music so I guess you’ll just have to come and see.

DJ Willy Fitswell will join us later in the evening and he says he’s up for a riot.

After a remarkable performance in September last year together with Preslav Literary School, Stephen Burch, aka The Great Park will honour us with another visit on the Sunday 27th of Februari. For those of you that have missed it last time: The Great Park is acoustic folk at its finest. Burch’s ‘musical paintings’ evoke a yearning for the day of yesterday. These are songs of romance, hope and despair by a dreamer caught in the a…bsurdity of modern life.
